Under this flagship scheme, every poor and vulnerable family will get 5 lakhs per year for health care. But then it is now emerging that it is not totally a central scheme and the states will have to bear 40% of the expense incurred. The Central Government has done a meager allocation to the scheme.

But then with the view of 2019 elections, the central government has announced it as a central scheme to influence the voters. Interestingly, a similar scheme ‘Chandranna Bima’ is already being implemented in Andhra Pradesh from the last couple of years.
