Center in a Flux over the Delimitation of Telugu States

Union Home and Law Ministry officials are in dilemma over how to go about the proposed delimitation in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. There is a tussle between both the ministries about how to go on with it. Home Ministry is looking at the easy passage of the bill.

But then, Law Ministry is trying to avoid headaches in future and so is imposing riders on to the attempts of the home ministry. Venkaiah Naidu who is overseeing the process admits that there is a confusion among officials.

“We are going to sit with them and sort it out soon, we want the Amendment to be passed in the next session of Parliament which normally will be in July,” he said. As of now, under every MP segment, there are seven Assembly segments. They will be increased to nine which will take the MLA seats in AP to 225 (175 now) and in Telangana to 153 (119 now).
