Center’s Objection Over Telangana’s Kaleshwaram Project

Telangana Government is arguing that Kaleshwaram Project is just a redesign of earlier Pranahita – Chevella Project and is not a new project but then Andhra Pradesh government is arguing that it is a new project since significant changes are made to old designs.

Central Water Commission also agreed with the opinion of the Andhra Pradesh government. Telangana officials gave a power point presentation of the project the other day and went on to say that due to those changes, the complete picture of the project changed.

But then Telangana officials still argued that the project is not a new one and there is no need to take all the approvals from the scratch. If the center has its way, the project designs should go back to Godavari River Board which will need the approval of the AP government and other stakeholders.
