Center says Polavaram file missing!

The lack of commitment by the center towards Polavaram Project – the lifeline of Andhra Pradesh is once again clearly shown. A person named Sureshan filed an RTI application regarding the environmental clearances to the project. However Center replied that it could not furnish the information as the file is missing.

Sureshan filed multiple RTI applications only to get the same answer. Central Information Commissioner Madabhushi Sridhar was serious on the center’s negligence and fined 15000 to the Union environment ministry. Polavaram is accepted as the National Project in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization act.

Accordingly Center had to fund the 20000 Crore project but in the last union budget, the central government only allocated 100 Crore. It also failed reimburse the amount spent by the state government since the appointed day. Doubting Center’s commitment, Chandrababu opted for a temporary alternative Pattiseema project.
