Center’s no going away on Section 8

Telangana IT Minister K Taraka Ramarao met Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley the other day in Delhi. This meeting was scheduled to bring to the notice of the Finance Minister about RBI debitting 1274 Crore from Telangana’s account as Income Tax arrears.

However KTR also mentioned to him about his government’s stand on Section 8 and strictly opposed the move which infiltrates in to the state government’s power. However Arun Jaitley’s response totally upset KTR according to national media reports. “Section 8 is the part of Act which was approved by the parliament and voted by your father. We can not selectively take the parts that interest your government and implement it. It is like we should implement all or none”, Jaitley said.

Jaitley also clarified his government’s stand on Cash on Vote, “The issue is in courts and they will deal with it. We will not interfere in that issue. Cash for Vote and Section 8 are totally different issues. Their timing may be a coincidence”. It is already known that Telangana CM KCR threatened with a fast unto death and even dissolving of the government in case Section 8 is imposed.
