Central Teams touring Hudhud affected areas!

Four Central Teams of experts are touring Hudhud Cyclone affected areas in Andhra Pradesh to assess the damage caused by the natural disaster. Two teams are teaming Vishakapatnam, one team is touring East Godavari and the other team is touring Srikakulam and Vizianagaram right now. They have already visited Vishakapatnam Shipping Harbour which was extensively damaged.

The State government officials are accompanying the central teams assisting them to understand the seriousness of the calamity. The committee led by Joint Secretary, Home Affairs, KK Pathak is leading the teams and before they set off to the spot, they had a review meeting with the collectors and other senior officials of agriculture, EPDCL and other departments.

The teams will finish their 3 days visit on Thursday. Hudhud is considered to be the country’s first urban cyclone and the worst disaster has caused a loss in excess of Rs 1 lakh crore in three districts — Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam and East Godavari — in Andhra Pradesh. Hudhud also caused damage that the port city of Vizag had ever seen, has caused a damage of more than Rs 200 crore to Vizag port, around Rs 2,500 crore to the Indian Navy and Rs 700 crore to the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
