CG Power to be a bane to Telangana?

Telangana government’s recent MOU with Chhattisgarh government over Power may not be beneficial for the new state in the long run. Telangana Power expert Raghu says this MOU is faulty and is not beneficial to Telangana in any ways.

According to the agreement, Telangana had to pay 1314 Crore per year even though it did not use a single unit of power. This will be a static charge every year. The expert also says there are several other clauses which do not favour the state in any way.

He is of the opinion, it will be better to buy power in open bidding than this way. Also the power from Chhattisgarh will take two years to come which will be of less use to Telangana then as the state will become power surplus by then according to the government. Raghu who was once very active in Telangana agitation complained about this faulty PPA to the Power regulatory council.
