Naidu clearing decks for Uttarandhra’s Growth Engine!

The state government is in the process of clearing the decks for Bhogapuram International Airport which is deemed to be the growth engine for the relatively backward Uttarandhra region. Already the government managed to overcome the land acquisition issue by offering higher compensation package to the land losing farmers.

The government will unveil the bid documents for roping in a private partner for the Bhogapuram International Airport (BIA) project in the next year. The Environmental impact assessement study will also complete in couple of months. The project will be executed on a public private partnership model with state government’s equity as land.

The first phase of BIA is estimated at Rs 2,461.27 crore requiring about 2004.54 acres. The airport is expected to be developed for operation of Airbus A-380 type aircraft in the first phase and with a runway length of 3,800 metres and will have a new runway, terminal building spread over 81,000 square metres.
