Across Andhra Pradesh, 47 market committees’ chairmen were announced by the state government. Along with members, it filled 705 nominated posts.
The alliance government took public opinion before nominating the members. In the latest announcement, TDP leaders got 37 seats while Jana Sena got 8 and BJP got 2 seats. Soon, other market committee chairmen will be announced.
The government will conduct a public referendum once again to ensure transparency and inclusivity in the nomination process. The government started filling up the posts in September 2024, and hopes to complete the process by the end of Mahanadu.
The party has received an overwhelming response so far with 60,000 applications from aspiring candidates. The first list of nominations saw the selection for 99 posts including chairmen for 20 corporations.
The second list consisted of 59 individuals who were given an opportunity. The government is likely to announce the chairmen for remaining market committees in near future.
