Naidu’s Remand: Allegations and Suspicions

Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP President Chandrababu Naidu was arrested and sent to 14 days’ remand by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court, causing political turmoil in the state.

Naidu defended himself in court, asserting he was innocent and not involved in the skill development scam, as the Cabinet had established the Skill Development Corporation, and government decisions should not warrant criminal action.

Naidu’s lawyer, Sidharth Luthra, argued for over an hour, highlighting that Naidu’s name wasn’t in the FIR, and the case had been closed two years ago, only to be reopened by the YCP government with apparent ulterior motives. Despite their arguments, the court appeared determined to jail Naidu.

Adding to the controversy, the remand order was issued late in the evening and provided to Naidu and his lawyer after 11 PM, hindering their ability to seek recourse in the High Court promptly. This sequence of events raises suspicions of a conspiracy against Naidu.

The situation awaits further developments, including the possibility of Luthra pursuing legal action.
