Chandrababu Naidu And Jagan Local Polls
The last time Andhra Pradesh held local body elections, the YSR Congress was in power. The elections were marked by allegations from the opposition that the police, local administration and ruling party cadres were being used to put pressure on TDP and Jana Sena leaders and candidates.
The political situation has changed significantly since then. The NDA is now in power in Andhra Pradesh, and the state is preparing for another round of local body elections in the coming weeks.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu addressed the upcoming polls today and expressed confidence about the alliance’s prospects across municipalities and ZPTCs.
Chandrababu said his government has been focused on delivering administration and suggested that the upcoming local body elections would provide an opportunity for people to assess its performance.
Meanwhile, YSR Congress president Jagan Mohan Reddy has been asking his party supporters to contest across the state. He has reportedly urged YSRCP leaders and workers to contest every available seat and seek victories in municipalities and ZPTCs.
With both sides preparing for the local polls, the elections are expected to be an important test of their organisational strength at the grassroots level.
