
On Friday, AP CM Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation stone for Cognizant’s permanent campus in Vizag. Earlier in the day, IT Minister Nara Lokesh opened the temporary campus. The event brought major news for Visakhapatnam and AP, drawing strong attention from the tech community.
Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar announced that the company will create 25,000 jobs in the city. He said coming to Vizag felt like coming home. The tech firm had earlier promised 8000 jobs, but the new number gave fresh hope to young professionals. He also said Vizag will grow as the AI hub of India.
Ravi Kumar confirmed that the company will open a GCC in Vizag. The move signals long term commitment and a clear plan for expansion. The announcement set a positive tone for the broader IT push in the region.
Chandrababu and Lokesh, along with Cognizant representatives and the Sattva team, laid foundation stones for seven IT companies. Chandrababu said Vizag will build a strong knowledge economy and emerge as a major technology center. He added that they are developing Vizag into an economic region and reminded everyone that Cognizant already operates in Chennai, Pune, Bengaluru and Kolkata.
