Confession In Phone Tapping: Trouble For KCR

The phone-tapping scandal has been a hot topic in Telangana political circles for the past three months. It was alleged that the former BRS government, under the leadership of KCR, had illegally tapped the phone calls of various politicians and businessmen with the help of the police department.

Former DCP of Task Force, Radha Kishan Rao, was one of the primary accused in this case. Meanwhile, Radha Kishan Rao’s statement has now leaked in the media and it drops some serious allegations against KCR and his BRS Party, which can put them in serious trouble.

As per Radha Kishan Rao’s statement, the phone-tapping operation was designed by Special Intelligence Branch (SIB) Chief Prabhakar Rao. It is heard that the police department, under Prabhakar Rao’s instructions, collected information about the individuals who pose a threat to the BRS party.

This information used to be passed on to SIB DSP Praneeth and he used to constantly monitor these individuals.

Radha Kishan Rao also revealed the individuals who were monitored. They were MLC Shambipur Raju (for his dispute with Qutbullapur MLA Vivekananda), Rajaiah (rival of ex-BRS leader and Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari), Patnam Mahender Reddy and his wife Suneetha (rivals of ex-Tandur MLA Pilot Rohit), retired IPS officer RS Praveen Kumar, NTV Narendra Chowdary and ABN Andhrajyothy’s MD Radha Krishna.

The phones of opposition leaders like Raghuveer Reddy (son of Jana Reddy), Saritha Tirupathaiah (Gadwal), Vamshi Krishna (Achampet) and Juvvadi Narsinga Rao (Korutla) were also tapped.

Radha Kishan Rao stated that even many businessmen, industrialists and real-estate tycoons were under surveillance. Realising that their phones were being tapped, these individuals started using internet apps like WhatsApp, Snapchat and Signal for communication purposes.

Even then, Prabhakar Rao and his team used to track those internal calls through Internet Protocol Data Records (IDPR).

Radha Kishan Rao also named iNews journalist Sravan Kumar as one of the key members in this scandal. He alleged that Sravan used to pass the information of opposition party leaders and their financial supporters to Prabhakar Reddy, under the guidance of former minister Harish Rao.

Rao also claimed that Sravan supplied specific information for targeted money seizures from leaders of opposition parties and also helped Praneeth Kumar’s team in conducting online trolling campaigns against people who used to criticise the BRS party.

These are serious allegations against KCR and the BRS party. As of now, the police are yet to give an official statement about Radha Kishan Rao’s confessions. It has to be seen how these allegations would affect BRS and its supremo.
