In Telangana, the present politics are revolving around 42% BC reservations. The Telangana Congress has made it clear that they will go for local body polls after giving 42% seats to BCs.
The BJP has also followed their stand. Coming to BRS, the pink party is maintaining stoic silence on the matter. They haven’t said that they will give 42% seats whether the ordinances are passed or not, like other parties.
Prior to Assembly elections, the Congress had given Kamareddy Declaration. In that, they said they would give reservations to BCs. Accordingly, they are committed to give 42% reservations.
It stood by its word and sent the ordinances to the Governor and the President. They are pending though. However, CM Revanth Reddy made it clear that even if the ordinances are not passed, the party will give 42% reservations.
On the other hand, when the Bill was put up in the Assembly, BRS supported it. But they are silent about 42% reservations when it comes to local body polls. Neither KCR nor KTR are talking about it. This has left the BC leaders in the party angry.
They are miffed that when other parties are willing to give 42%, why is BRS silent? The Congress in fact challenged BRS if they would give 42% reservations. But the top brass are mum.
Ordinance or no ordinance, the Congress has categorically said that they will give 42% reservations. They have already alerted the BC leaders. But BRS hasn’t taken up any such measures.
BRS working president KTR has been touring various districts. But nowhere did he speak about reservations. He will be in Siricilla to meet party leaders and cadre on Tuesday. The BRS BC leaders are waiting to see how he will respond to the matter.
