Congress to Go Alone in AP, What Happened Between Naidu and RaGa?

A day after Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu meeting Congress President, Rahul Gandhi in Delhi, PCC President Raghuveera Reddy has announced that the Congress Party will fight the elections in Andhra Pradesh on its own without any tie-up in the 175 assembly constituencies.

This was very much on cards after the drubbing of Mahakutami in Telangana. Congress reportedly offered Naidu to take a decision about the alliance in Andhra Pradesh after weighing in all the options. Rahul Gandhi categorically told Naidu that he wants his expertise at the National Level regardless of what happens to Congress in AP.

Chandrababu Naidu who met Rahul Gandhi the other day reportedly told him that TDP and Congress alliance in Andhra Pradesh may prove to be counterproductive and so they will be contesting independently. After the meeting, Congress high command conveyed the same message to the State Unit.

This will mean that Congress will draw a blank in the upcoming elections as well unless there is a tactical understanding with the ruling party behind the scenes. In such a case, Congress will also transfer its little vote bank to TDP without a formal alliance.
