Congress’s Settlement To Sharmila & Tummala!

Thummala Nageswara Rao, who was previously associated with BRS and was anticipating the Paleru ticket, has made the decision to leave BRS and is reportedly preparing to join the Congress party. Tummala’s move is expected to culminate in his formal induction into the Congress by September 6th. On a parallel note, YSRTP leader YS Sharmila had a meeting with Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi. Speculation is rife that the YSRTP is poised to merge with the Congress in the near future.

Sharmila has publicly stated that her discussions with Sonia and Rahul pertained to Telangana’s issues. It’s reported that Sharmila presented her conditions before them, which include a demand for 5 assembly seats for her followers in the upcoming Telangana elections. There is also a possibility that Sharmila herself may contest from the Paleru constituency.

Thummala Nageswara Rao’s entry into Congress has drastically shifted the political equations in Khammam. It is anticipated that he might contest from the Khammam Assembly segment in the upcoming elections.

The political influence of BRS in Khammam has considerably diminished, as it managed to secure only one seat in the district during the 2018 elections. Thummala’s departure from BRS has dealt a significant blow to the party’s presence in the district, leaving it in a weakened state.
