Constitutional amendment needed for Railway Zone!

Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu and Vishakapatnam MP Haribabu were hinting at the granting of Special Railway Zone to Vishakapatnam from the last few days. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu also gave few indirect hints in that direction.

However Civil Avitation Minister, Ashok Gajapathi Raju says the new zone creation may need constitutional amendment. He said that there is lack of clarity in AP Reorganization Act over this issue and so a constitutional amendment may be needed.

Constitutional amendment is not so easy now and it may take more time. Political experts say the zone may be first announced when the Prime Minister comes down to Amaravati for the foundation stone laying ceremony. Special Package and Special Railway Zone may be given to compensate the Special Status which the center is not giving.
