Controversy: NTR District Without NTR’s Native?

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Government has reorganized the thirteen districts into twenty-six new districts. According to the earlier promise during the Padayatra, the NTR district is also among the new districts. But then, there is confusion/controversy over this now.

Jagan made the promise to the people of NTR’s native, Nimmakuru. Ideally, the Machilipatnam constituency which has Nimmakuru will have to be made the NTR district. But then, Vijayawada without NTR’s native village, Nimmakuru has been declared as NTR district.

This is to appease the Kamma community which is dominant in Vijayawada but the actual purpose is left out. “Jagan Mohan Reddy made the promise of NTR district standing in Nimmakuru. Machilipatnam should be named as NTR district. What is NTR’s district without his native?,” the locals of Nimmakuru demand.

And then, there is a criticism of removing the name of Krishna for Vijayawada where the Krishna river actually exists.
