CPI leader K. Narayana has once again targeted Megastar Chiranjeevi with sharp and unnecessary remarks. This time, his criticism came after film producers met Chiranjeevi to discuss the film workers’ demand for a wage hike. Chiranjeevi had responded with maturity, asking both parties to reach an amicable solution that considers the concerns of both producers and workers.
Importantly, Chiranjeevi did not take sides. He clearly stated that he would like to hear the workers’ version before offering any support to the producers. Despite this balanced stand, Narayana reacted negatively.
The senior communist leader made a controversial comment in Telugu, saying, “కార్మికుల సమస్యపై నిర్మాతలు చిరంజీవితో భేటీ అవ్వడం అంటే పులికి మేకని అప్పగించినట్లే,” which means that having producers meet Chiranjeevi is like handing over a goat to a tiger. He also questioned why the producers would meet Chiranjeevi instead of others who work closely with the workers.
Narayana’s reaction seems uncalled for. Chiranjeevi, being a senior figure in the film industry, certainly understands its internal issues far better than Narayana does. As a communist, Narayana can support the workers’ cause, but Chiranjeevi did not speak against them in any way.
This is not the first time Narayana has taken a dig at Chiranjeevi. There appears to be a pattern in his comments, although the exact reason remains unclear. Even though Chiranjeevi did not find much political success, he has always maintained dignity in public life. He has stayed away from politics and continues to mind his own work.
Yet Narayana keeps making below-the-belt remarks, which is something no one else has done to Chiranjeevi. The Megastar appears to be a soft target because he chooses not to respond harshly. Interestingly, whenever Narayana criticises Chiranjeevi, it grabs media and social media attention.
Chiranjeevi has never replied in the same tone, and that speaks volumes about his character. On the other hand, this behaviour from Narayana is disappointing, especially considering his age and long-standing political career.
