Daggubati Purandareswari is a name that is being considered by the BJP top brass for the post of BJP national chief. As of now, she is the BJP chief of Andhra Pradesh.
Talk in saffron party is that once she is relieved of the state post, Purandareswari will be made the BJP national chief in place of JP Nadda or will be made deputy Lok Sabha speaker.
Known to be a good orator, she is proficient in Telugu, Hindi and English. Giving her the deputy speaker post will mean women’s representation from the south.
The party insiders feel she is quite capable if they have to look south for a leader. The talk is that even the Prime Minister is contemplating on her name.
On the other hand, to negate the talk that BJP is a North party, Purandareswari could be made the BJP national chief. In the past, Purandareswari was given a national post and she also worked as the president of BJP National Women’s Morcha.
Even if she does not get a minister’s post in the union cabinet, Purandareswari will surely be given something equally cushy, say BJP insiders.
