Despite Crisis, ‘T’ yet to start saving!

While the neighbouring Telugu State, Andhra Pradesh remains a very active state in energy conservation, Telangana which is hit by severe power crunch is yet to start energy conservation actively. The state government is yet to set up its own state energy conservation mission (SECM), months after coming to power.

While few districts of Andhra Pradesh has got LED bulbs distributed a subsidized price, Telangana energy department leisurely and recently approached Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) for the same. It is said that AP is saving at least 400-500 MW of the daily consumption of 6,000 MW.

LED bulbs for domestic consumers, LED streetlights for urban civic bodies, solar powered pump sets for agriculture sectors are some of the steps taken by Andhra Pradesh government to conserve power. We will hope Telangana government will take a cue from its neighbouring state.
