After the elections, the first assembly sessions under the leadership of the new government started the other day. While all MLAs took their oaths yesterday, senior TDP leader Ayyannapatrudu was unanimously elected as the speaker today.

Speaking at the assembly, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said that he was highly disappointed when his party won only 23 seats in the 2019 general elections.

“People mocked us, saying we got 23 seats when the results were declared on the 23rd of May,” Chandrababu stated.

“Now, our alliance has won 164 seats. If we add all those numbers, we get 11. Women in Amaravati agitated for the capital for 1,136 days. If we add those numbers, we also get 11. Now, YCP has only 11 seats,” he added.

Chandrababu noted that while YCP came up with the slogan “Why Not 175,” the people only gave them 11 seats. He pointed out that it seemed like the script of God.

He reminded everyone how YCP leaders had mocked Pawan Kalyan, saying they would not let him cross the assembly gate.

“Pawan Kalyan won all the 21 seats his party contested. He is a person who knows when to bend and when to win,” Chandrababu said.

Chandrababu emphasized that the assembly should serve as an inspiration for many in the next five years. He stressed that all leaders should be available to the people 24*7 and remain accountable to them.
