Did Center tamper World Bank Report?

With Telangana and some other states lagging behind in the ease of doing business rankings announced by the World Bank, there were allegations by those states, the NDA government at the center tampered the report in the favour of their ruling states. We decided to dig deep if at all the tampering is possible.

World Bank in association with a private agency did this survey and report. They sought some crucial data about the methodology from the department of industrial policy and promotion (DIPP) and also various departments of the state government which is a normal practice.

Since the inputs are exclusively available with central and state governments, there is no way they can be obtained from any other sources. The report also had inputs from KPMG, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci) which makes it extremely difficult for tampering. After the survey, World Bank also reviewed the dataset to ensure its veracity and robustness.
