Did Jagan Give Clean Chit to Chandrababu with Polavaram Re-Tenders?

Andhra Pradesh Government is on the verge of awarding Polavaram Dam Works and Hydel Project Contract to Megha Engineering Infrastructure Limited (MEIL) (MEIL) as the company has bid 12.6% less than the Government’s decided rate. Jagan Government claims savings of 629 Crores by this contract. Megha is the single bidder for this contract and so Reverse Tendering is not possible.

The Government is mooting to award the contract to Megha relaxing the norms. Meanwhile, this has opened to a new debate. When in the Opposition, YSR Congress had released a book ‘Avineethi Chakravarthy’ which claims Three Lakh Crore Corruption by then TDP Government. In the book, it is mentioned that the owners of MEIL are the Binamis of Chandrababu Naidu.

MEIL got the contracts of Purushottapatnam, Kondaveeti Vagu Works, Pattiseema, Chintalapudi Lift Irrigation Projects etc in Chandrababu Naidu’s regime. In the book, Jagan alleged that there is a massive corruption to the tune of 2,203 Crore in these projects after Chandrababu and MEIL colluded.

Normally, Jagan should be canceling all the existing projects of the company and call for an investigation. But awarding a crucial project like Polavaram to the company will mean that the ruling party has given clean chit to MEIL and Chandrababu or they have just lied about the Corruption while they are in the Opposition.
