DRDO officials inspected land in Donakonda panchayat’s Badapuram that belongs to APIIC. The DRDO officials from Bengaluru and Delhi are looking for a 100-acre land parcel to establish defense companies.
The officials were also shown the land which has a British-era airport. State government officials shared that once the Veligonda project gets completed, plenty of water will be available. They also said that the land parcel has good connectivity.
The state government officials emphasized that the land parcel would be ideal to manufacture defense equipment. It is said that the Central government is keen on starting a missile manufacturing unit in Prakasam district’s Donakonda.
The Center is said to be keen on increasing the production of missiles according to reliable sources. Hence the officials explained the borders, infrastructure facilities and other details to DRDO officials.
After Operation Sindoor, the Central government is keen to increase production of defense equipment indigenously. AP CM Chandrababu is also keen on developing the state as a defence manufacturing hub giving a boost to PM Modi’s ‘Make in India’ call.
