Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court reserved its order on the bail application filed by BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha in the Delhi Liquor Policy scam case.
Kavitha was produced at the court this morning. During the arguments, the CBI requested the court not to grant bail for Kavitha stating that she is one of the primary accused in the case and may also influence the current investigation if she gets bail.
On the other side, Kavitha’s lawyer stated that she is eligible for bail as per PMLA section 45. It was also argued that she was arrested without solid evidence.
Kavitha’s lawyer questioned why the CBI arrested her again when she was in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate. He further claimed that the CBI intentionally arrested her without justification.
He further added that Kavitha is a star campaigner for BRS, making her arrest unnecessary for cases with punishment of less than seven years.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the court reserved the order and said that it would pronounce the judgement on May 2. Until then, Kavitha would serve her remand at Tihar Jail.
