Double trouble for Bethapudi farmers!

The farmers in Bethapudi are putting up a fight against the land acquisition unleashed by the state government. However this is not the first time the land acquisition dagger is hanging on their heads. Previously they have parted lands to build a township.

The state government then planned the township to link Vijayawada and Guntur to make them in to a mega city. They were offered 40000 compensation and 5 cents of developed lands for every acre they gave. But the project did not happen.

Later late YSR had laid the foundation for a Singapore Township after entering into a MoU with Indo-African Builders to build apartments. The then Vijayawada Urban Development Authority (VUDA) too had entered into an agreement to build apartments on 50 acres, but the project never materialized. The past experiences are haunting the farmers now too.
