Today is the last day of withdrawals for Rajya Sabha elections and there is drama the entire day. Congress Party tried its level best to get rebels out of the fray. Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy had close door meeting with Chaitanya Raju and managed to convince him out of the competition. On the other side, Congress leaders submitted a letter of withdrawal to returning officer on the behalf of Adhala Prabhakar Reddy. But the later turned up in the last minute and said he is still in fray and he is not related to the letter.
The withdrawal time ended 3 PM today. So, seven candidates are in fray for the six Rajya Sabha seats. The election for these seats will take place on February 7th. Congress Party is planning to suspend MLAs supporting Adhala’s candidature.
