Telangana government ‘bullying’ press!

The Editors Guild of India is serious on Telangana government trying to intimidate journalists of Outlook through abuse of power. The Guild objects to Telangana government’s overreaction for an article and cartoon on IAS officer Smitha Sabharwal despite the magazine tendering an apology.

It is said that Outlook’s Assistant Editor in Hyderabad was withdrawn her accreditation by the Telangana government and also registered criminal cases and had summoned Outlook journalists, including the Editor, for investigation

The Guild urged the Telangana government and the officials to exercise restraint and desist from the “undemocratic course” which targets to intimidate not just the magazine but the press in general and muzzle free expression”.
