EC Decides on Two Leaves Symbol and Jayalalithaa’s Legacy

Election Commission of India has ruled in favour of the ruling AIADMK Faction led by Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami in Two Leaves Symbol Case. EC earlier froze the symbol after the two factions of the AIADMK – one led by Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami and his Deputy O Panneerselvam and the other led by ousted leader VK Sasikala laid stake on it.

After hearing the arguments, the ruling was given in favour of EPS-OPS faction. Now, Sasikala faction is likely to go to the Supreme Court. This will come as an advantage to the faction if by-election happens in Jayalalithaa’s RK Nagar Constituency.

Earlier in March, the by-election was scrapped over allegations of voter bribery. The by-election is likely to happen in the next month. The merger of OPS faction with EPS’ Side and filing affidavits together before the Commission with the signature of office bearers got the ruling in their favour.
