Even in Suicides, KCR wants a comparison with Naidu!

Telangana government seem to be very obsessed with the hatred on AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. The state government tries to compare every thing with that of Andhra Pradesh and try to get an edge over that. This happened with the issue of farmers suicides too. The issue is threatening the state as it is ranked second in the country in those suicides.

According to unofficial estimations, five farmers commit suicides in Telangana every day. Telangana government was under pressure to increase the existing ex-gratia package from 2 Lakhs. KCR in order to score a point over Chandrababu made the ex-gratia 6 Lakhs which is one lakh more than what Andhra Pradesh government gives.

This type of political calculations are not necessary but at the end some how the poor farmers are getting an additional benefit of one Lakh. Telangana government should take concrete steps to curb the suicides other than increasing the ex-gratia amounts. The farming community in the state is under severe stress due to drought and crop failures.
