Fire Accident in COVID Center of Vja, Several Feared Killed

It’s that part of the year we hear a news of some mishap or the other every day. Today it is in Vijayawada. A fire accident has happened in Hotel Swarna Palace which was turned into a COVID Care Center. The death toll is between Seven to Eleven according to various initial media reports.

There are thirty COVID patients and ten staff treating them when the fire accident occurred. All the patients are those who have mild symptoms and do not require hospitalization. The accident is said to have occurred due to a Short Circuit. Fire tenders are trying to douse the fire. The patients are being shifted to other hospitals.

The Relief measures are being delayed due to the smoke and also due to the fact that COVID is a highly infectious disease. Some patients have jumped off the first floor to save their lives. After the fire fighters arrived, they are saving people from the balconies using ladders since the stairs are not accessible.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh is one of the worst-hit states due to the Coronavirus. It has been registering around 10,000 cases per day. At present, Andhra Pradesh has reported 2,14,145 COVID-19 cases, of which 85,486 are active. While 1,26,720 people have recovered, 1,939 people have succumbed to the virus.
