First modelling agency for Transgenders!

Despite all the reforms and developments in India, there is still a lot of social stigma towards transgenders. However, with a modelling agency specifically for transgenders all set to open up, it seems that even India is ready to accept transgenders and understand their plight.

The agency, called Transgender Model Agency, will soon be launched in New Delhi under the supervision of Rudrani Chettri, who also happens to be the mastermind behind the agency. Chettri, the head of Mitr Trust and a transgender activist living in Delhi, revealed in a recent chat that the reason behind the idea of starting a modelling agency was years of ‘frustration’ caused by the unfair treatment she and the rest of the transgender community had to face.

The agency has hired Rishi Raj, a well-known stylist and photographer, for a skilful coverage for its launch and is collecting funds for the project via Bitgiving.com.
