Flipkart logistics hub in AP!

Online Retailing Major, Flipkart is planning to acquire at least one million square feet of space in the upcoming logistics park of Vishakapatnam port trust. The the logistics park will be built in over 500 acres at Anakapally, close to the port city Visakhapatnam with an investment of 600 Crore.

This move may indicate that Andhra Pradesh may have relaxed the norms of imposing VAT on online retailers. The tax issues for Flipkart already arose in Telangana and Karnataka states. The logistics park is planned to tap the huge advantage of the long sea coast of the state. The state government is planning at least 13 ports here to connect to the South East economies.

The logistics park after its completion is expected to serve customers in at least seven states that fall under 500 kilometres of radius and will have potential to offer some 50,000 jobs, directly and indirectly. A consultant will be hired very soon to prepare detailed design and roadmap for attracting customers.
