Forget Price Hike, Naidu to Incentivize Power Usage

Andhra Pradesh has achieved a rare feat in Power Sector. The state which inherited a deficit of 225 Million Units during the state division has become Power Surplus and now the discoms are earning profits selling the Power in Open Market.

The Power department has got an Operating Profit of 82 Crore for the first time. The government is also incentivizing the consumers who are using the Power in the non-peak hours. Home consumers who use power from 10 AM to 12 PM daily and industries which use Power from 10 PM to 6 AM will get every unit for one rupee less.

When the states are bearing huge subsidies and incurring heavy losses from the Power Sector, Andhra Pradesh saved 861 Crore the last year by cutting down the Transmission losses and also posted Profits. This is a significant achievement for sure.
