The Ganesh Chaturthi season is nearly wrapped up with the final few days of Nimarjan procession pending. The majority of the immersion procedure has been completed already.
One detrimental thing that everyone observed with the Ganesh Nimarjan this year is the extensive usage of political songs during the procession.
There are many viral videos of political songs being used at the Ganesh processions which is a poorly orchestrated campaign. This has invented a serious reaction from Commissioner of police Sajjanar.
Hyderabad city Police Commissioner made it very clear that it is against the circulation to use political songs at religious events, and there will be strong consequences.
“We have already documented the social media evidence of the usage of political songs for religious events. This is a strict warning to everyone who has been planning such activities. If it is identified that people are using religious platforms for their political gains, they will face the action.” Sajjanar commented.
This rule must be applicable beyond all party lines. The Ganesh procession must be held with festive spirit and religious harmony, but not with political flavours and ideologies. This is precisely what was presented by the commissioner of police, and could be put to action very soon.
