GHMC elections going to happen very soon?

Telangana government had released a G.O. that delimitation of wards is not possible now and they will be continuing with the present 150 wards. This will mean that all the hurdles before the conducting of the GHMC elections are cleared. It is already known that Hyderabad high court had ordered the government to complete the elections by December.

The government deliberately delayed the elections in the name of delimitation but now after wasting so much of time, declared that delimitation is not possible. It is said that government came to the opinion that increased number of wards will come as an advantage of opposition parties and so dropped the idea.

GHMC area with 24 Assembly constituencies holds key for the government to have grip on the capital. TRS just managed 3 MLAs here. TDP-BJP combine managed majority MLAs with the help of the settlers. Hence the ruling party is encouraging defections from other parties to strengthen itself here.
