GHMC seizes Uppal Stadium!

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) had seized the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium at Uppal. The stadium is due 12 Crores of Property Tax to the corporation from several years and is not responding to the notices. This move of GHMC comes ahead of the crucialIPL match between Hyderabad Sun Risers and Kings XI Punjab.

The tickets for the match were already sold. In order to organize the match, Hyderabad Cricket Association had to pay all the dues to the corporation. GHMC under commissioner Somesh Kumar is being very strict in tax collection in the recent times.

It will be an embarrassing situation for HCA if they match had to abandoned due to this problem. This is not the first time Uppal Stadium found itself in a tax row. Despite getting good number of matches due to IPL, some how the stadium is not able to come out of this tax mess for a long time.
