Woman Caught Smuggling Gold in Underwear

A woman was caught smuggling gold bars at the Rajiv Gandhi airport in Delhi. The woman named Farhat Unnisa had gold worth Rs. 64,38,960 in her possession. Travelling from Dubai to Delhi, the most shocking detail is that she hid the gold bars in her underwear.

Unnisa, a resident of Hyderabad had just gotten off a Jet Airways flight when she was intercepted by the Air Intelligence Unit officers. The slabs of gold hidden in her inner wear weighed about 2 kgs.

While further investigations are still being conducted, the gold bars have been seized currently. Whether she was smuggling for herself or was just a carrier for some larger smuggling network is still to be known.

A customs official let it out that in most cases, the smuggler is “a carrier sent by a syndicate.” The official added that regular passengers are easily lured to be the carrier “for a paltry sum of Rs10,000 plus airfare.”
