Government Changes Its Word on Amma Vodi Yet Again

Education Minister Adhimulapu Suresh the other day announced that Amma Vodi scheme will be applicable only for government schools. Amma Vodi scheme will be launched on January 26, 2020. It gives 15000 Rupees to the mother of every school-going kid. But then, the CMO made a crucial announcement on this.

Contrary to the Education Minister’s statement, the Press Release said the scheme would be applicable to Private and Government Schools as well. Experts expressed apprehensions that this scheme would kill the Government schools but the government felt that any deviation now will affect it politically.

Currently, almost 45% of students are in private schools and 55% of them are in the government sector. With the government announcing the Amma Vodi scheme for Private Schools as well will trigger a change to those schools from the government schools. In the next step, the government may have to close down schools with no children.

YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s Schemes like Fees Reimbursements and Aarogya Sri aided the growth of Private Institutions while ignoring government’s. The entire system was shaken by both the schemes and now experts fear that the same fate awaits School Education System as well.
