Govt increases focus on power sector in Amaravathi

Andhra Pradesh government had cleared sanctions for 20 km and 10 km of slaying covered cables in Vijayawada and Guntur cities respectively in the first phase so as to increase the augmentation of power infrastructure in the Capital region.

Besides, government also sanctioned slaying covered cables to an extent of 23 km in Vijayawada city and 10 km in Guntur which will be able to withstand the vagaries of nature. Two gas-insulated substations will also be setup in Vijayawada and Guntur.

The underground cables will also have alternative (backup) cables in case of any emergency breakdowns. Location of all the substations which would come up in Vijayawada and Guntur are finalized and the construction works are expected to begin in a couple of months.
