The highway from Vijayawada and Hyderabad is jam packed with 1000s of vehicles coming from the city. Due to Sankranthi holiday season and scarce trains, people are opting to travel on cars to their home towns. Adding to it, too much checking of RTA officials are causing last minute cancellations of Private buses. Even on the buses that travel, the tickets are going to cost double and triple the usual price.
It is said that 30000 vehicles passed through Chillakallu Toll Plaza near Jagayyapeta on Friday. Out of them, 15000 are only cars. There was a heavy traffic jam on the high way for about 8 hours on Friday as a result. On the otherside, Kesara Toll plaza recorded 7700 cars till Friday afternoon 2 PM. The similar situation is also expected to continue on Sunday too.
