High Court Mounts More Trouble for KCR

Telangana government which is already irked by the agitations of the opposition parties over the land acquisition for Mallanna Sagar Project has one more headache. This time, it is from Hyderabad High Court. Taking up the petition of some unhappy farmers from Karimnagar district, the high court struck down G.O.s 123 and 124.

These G.O.s were brought by the government to take lands from the farmers directly. The government argues that they are most beneficial for farmers. But the court agreed with the farmers’ opinion that they are detrimental to farmers and asked the government to take the lands under 2013 Land Acquisition Act.

This judgement of the high court comes as a huge boost to the opposition parties fighting against the government over this issue. Mallanna Sagar Project Land Acquisition is the first biggest headache for KCR since he came to power two years ago. Opposition parties are raking up the issue big time as they see this as an opportunity to corner the government and make their presence felt.
