High Court strikes down PIL on Pushkaralu

Hyderabad high court had struck down a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed against Godavari Pushkaralu. The complainant alleged that both Telangana and AP government is wasting huge money from the state exchequer for Pushkaralu which is against the secular spirit of the country.

The complainant also urged the court to make the government as responsible for the stampede that occurred on the first day of the 12 days event. The high court had took up the petition for hearing today. However the court refused to agree with the view of the complainant and struck down the petition.

According to the estimates, about 3 Crore people have taken the holy dip only in Andhra Pradesh itself till yesterday. As the event is drawing closer, more people are expected to take the holy dip. The Pushkaralu is also drawing great crowds in Telangana.
