High Court’s Stay On Jagan’s Online Ticketing!

YS Jagan is leaving Tollywood restless and sleepless. After the abnormally low cinema ticket prices saga finally came to an end, the Jagan government is back with another plan that is leaving exhibitors and distributors petrified.

The government recently passed a G.O mandating online cinema ticket sales through the government portal.

Incidentally, the High Court of Andhra Pradesh has now issued a stay on the G.O 69 which mandates online ticket sales through the government portal. A related order was passed a little while back. The next hearing on this case has been pushed to 27 July.

The government had instructed theater owners and managements to enter an agreement with the Nodal agency and only sell tickets through the portal designated by the government. This did not sit well with theater owners, who had already taken huge advances from Paytm and Book My Show for online ticket sales, and canceling these deals is not economically viable now.

The High Court has now stayed the whole process and the operations can go on as they were previously.
