Hyderabad Leads Country’s Battle Against COVID-19

Hyderabad-based Dr. Reddy Labs is the authorized partner of Russia’s Sputnik V Coronavirus vaccine. Sputnik V is the third vaccine to have got authorization for emergency use in India. The first dose of the vaccine is administered in Hyderabad today. The price is set at 948 Rupees + 5% GST which arrives at approximately Rs 995.

Interestingly, Sputnik V at 995 Rupees is still cheaper than Covaxin which is priced at 1,200 Rupees. The vaccine is expected to be available in the next week. As of now, these vaccines are imported from Russia, and the prices are expected to come down when the local manufacturing begins.

The company is working closely with its six manufacturing partners in India to ensure a smooth and timely supply. Sputnik V has to be taken in two doses of 0.5 ml each at a gap of just 21 days. Bharat Biotech, the company behind Covaxin is also Hyderabad-based. And now, Dr. Reddy’s is going to play a crucial role in the country’s fight against COVID-19.
