Hyderabad Metro becomes headache for KCR

The concessionaire of Hyderabad Metro Rail Project, L&T had put forth a proposal before Telangana government which may delay the project. According to the commitment between the government and the concessionaire, the project should be completed by July 7th, 2017. But L&T is confirmed not to meet the deadline.

L&T argues that the delay in the project is due to government is delaying the right of the way in various routes. The concessionaire is demanding the damages incurred as a result or increase the project tenure by another 18 months. Since the compensation will run in to 1000s of Crores, government is likely to choose the second option.

However 18 months extension will mean that the project may be delayed much which may bring bad name to the government and so the officials are in talks with L&T to bring the extension time down. Government may consider launching the project corridor wise so as to make sure the people get a feeling the project is delayed.
