Hyderabad Metro to cost 200Cr more!

Hyderabad Metro is going to cost 200 Crore more to the state exchequer. The officials for no reason delayed the land acquisition for the project. Recent changes in the Union government’s Land Acquisition Act has hiked up compensation cost by four times costing 200 Crore more for the new state. Earlier the government had to shell up to 35,000 per sq. yard to widen the roads and now it is going to go up by more than three times.

It is said that On the Chilkalguda-Musheerabad stretch alone, government will have to pay up 75 Crore more. There are land acquisition difficulties in areas like Ameerpet, Sarathi Studio, Greenlands, Somajiguda, Khairatabad, Lakdikapul, Malakpet, Moazzam Jahi Market, Nampally, Gandhi Bhavan and Chikkadpally. Telangana government is planning to seek the permission of Union government to relax the land acquisition norms which is again not easy. Such move will also be resisted from the owners losing their properties.
