Hyd Metro to miss another deadline!

With government not taking a final call on the Metro realignment, the concessionaire of Hyderabad Metro Rail Project, L&T confirmed that the project is unlikely to be completed by the July 2017 deadline. The concessionaire says that non-availability of right of way (RoW) at many places is slowing down the works.

The project has already missed two internal deadlines of March 21 and August 15 for commissioning of two stretches so far and the third deadline is also likely to be missed. L&T submitted proposals for the realignments at Sultan Bazaar and the area near Assembly, in May but the government is sitting on those proposals with out approving. Even if it does, the delays is expected to be at least a year.

Telangana government wants to complete the entire project before the 2019 elections to showcase it as their achievement. But with this inordinate delays, the initial estimation of the project – Rs 14,370 crore, has already touched Rs 20,000 crore.
