Hyd settlers to get AP local status in 2016

The central government had promised Andhra Pradesh government to solve the local status issue by March 2016. The Centre will issue a gazette notification modifying the Presidential Order, 1975 on the local status before that. This will enable people who want to move out of Hyderabad and settle down in residuary AP to get local status for preferential treatment in government jobs and admissions to professional colleges.

The Union home ministry will clear the file in couple of weeks and sent it to the Union law ministry. The ministry will seek the opinion of the Union HRD ministry before giving its approval for local status issue. Finally it has to seek the approval of the President of India.

Once the President clears the file, it will come back to the Union home ministry, which will issue the notification on the ‘local’ status in the gazette. The process is likely to take at least six months but the Home minister Rajnath Singh assured the CM that the notification is issued before March.
